During my degree I had grand plans of becoming a camera operator, but in retrospect I really didn't have much of an idea about what it meant to be camera operator, let alone working as a runner, and now I was runner I was having serious doubts about whether I wanted to be a camera operator after all...
So with all of this and much more running (no pun intended!) through my mind, I decided that there and then I would write a career guide to help people get into the film, TV and commercials industry as runners, and to help those already working in it.
I wanted to give hope to the people who didn't have an 'industry contact', I wanted to explain fully the different types of running work and what is involved. I wanted to talk about degrees and short courses. I wanted to stress the importance of running - but also how much fun it can be. I wanted to scream "I AM RUNNER" from London's rooftops and I wanted to interview as many top industry professionals as possible about how they got started, and what advice they have for people who want to do their job.
What you have in front of you now is the result from that fateful afternoon. Written whilst I climbed the film industry ranks myself, this guide book and website combined are all you will ever need to get your foot in the door of this notoriously difficult business, and to keep it there long enough to get your dream job.
Your journey starts here.
I wish you all the best of luck,
Will Judge
